Went and saw my first bollywood movie since Ive been in india today.
Crazy plot. crazy audience, cant wait to get to Mumbai so I can be in one.
Â
sob sob, so romantic.
GRIN. guess its not a bad legacy to leave behind (the Taj was built for his wife)
Heading for Jaipur today…
These are friends I keep bumping into in my travels in india:
1: Sam; the instant Pork spew. within minutes of finishing your meal, usually just after paying
2:Â Greg; You actually feel great and everything is operating normally. Except you produce around 20-30 litres of gas a day
3 & 4: Steve & Dan. Spew and diarrhea -Â The extended visit sometimes they hang around together, sometimes alone. Luckily havent seen much of these two.Â
Full on, but really interesting. Had the fortune of not seeing any of the floating bodies in the river up close.
Worst job in the world:
Relocating the bodies that end up on the busy side of the river by dragging or punting them with a rowboat back out into the middle. Babies, kids and pregnant women are not burnt on the ghats as they are considered pure. instead they go into the river w a rock.
People who have smallpox or cobra bite are put on a bananna tree raft and floated down the river.
Summing it up:
Seeing people drinking the ganges water, beside someone washing their cow, beside someone swimming, beside someone washing clothes, another dumping rubbish, people diving under and panning the ashes of the cremated for jewelery. all just downstream from a sewer outfall defies belief!

Well it seems my ipod doesnt like altitude above around 3000m.
it fired up happily on arrival back in dehli this morning. no such luck for my laptop drive.
Its great to be out of the snow and into the heat again.
Heading to Varanasi tonight on a sleeper train. I did ask the ticket dude if I would fit in a 3 tier AC class bed. He looked me up and down and said, everyone fits!
First couple of days in Leh were bitterly cold. a very barren landscape. Dealing with the altitude is fine as long as you dont walk to much!
Finished a 2 day jeep trip yesterday to Pangong Lake. This is in the inner line area. which is the china border.
Looking forward to getting back to warmth (youll understand when you see pics – tomorrow prob)
Fly Dehli tomorrow then onto agra & varanasi.
Â
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
My ipod has died, and it seems so has my laptop hard drive!
So no tunes, and no storage
This was an amazing trip!
Had some funny episodes too.
After dinner at the camp we were playing cards.
One of the indian tourists asked us what we were playing.
I said, Asshole or Shithead depending on what country you come from.
He thought I was calling him those names, and said something in Hindi, and then said if I didnt want to tell him I should just say so and say such things.
Later they returned and were sitting behind us. They started making loud breathing noises thru their noses, one nostril at a time. We turned and asked them what they were doing.
They said it was a Yoga techniquie to cure not only altitude sickness but 90% of health problems
