Emai Shan

Moby | 29/8/2007

Emai Shan is one of the pilgrimages in China. At 3100m its a good hike. Most Chinese get transport to the top. But thats not sport.

Tackling the mountain the traditional way. People had said it was a lot of steps, I didn’t realise they meant only steps. No inclines, just steps. All 25,000+ of them.

On and on and on……..

Overnighting in a Monastery. There was no temptation to do one of the 10 day no speaking meditation retreats for me.

An early start to hike the last hour to the summit. It was all worth it though. The view across the clouds as the sun rose!
