Well cambodia is expensive! in comparison to Thailand which was a surprise. fuel is $1USD per litre so that doesnt help.
Siam Reap was amazing. leaving a legacy that is 1200 Years old.
a couple of pics uploaded to here
Toul Sleng ( Torture Prison ) was well freaky.
At the national museum today was standing in front of a huge statue from 7th century, truly impressive
Off to Laos tomorrow.
Well after 16 hours in busses from koh Chang arrived in Siam reap.
It has been said if you can survive the road from Poipet border crossing to siam reap (160km in a very rapid 7 hours), then you can survive anything! I have never seen a road so potholed!
and the fact they clean the air filter on the bus after 80km!
funny how much diffference there is to thailand. Angry tooting instead of happy tooting. but all and all so far its pretty cool.
Went out the other nite and the band was playing thai covers.. So we wrote up some requests. And they fufilled it to the max. Metallica & The darkness. Epic guitar solos and loudness.
Pic of us drinking beer
Leaving Chaing Mai tonight, back to BKK for the LAST time!
then onto Koh Chang for a couple of days before hitting Cambodia on the 3rd.
Have met some cool people here, went to Muay Thai last night. Sally, one of the girls here is about to start muay thai training, and after what I saw last night (incl some Foreigner fights) I cant believe she wants to still do it.
An awesome 3 days in the hills. The trekking wasnt overly long, 2 hours at a time, but the heat defaintely takes its toll.
Had a great guide and group of people to hang out with. Helped fix a leaky roof ( leaf thatching) in our Accommodation in the Hill Tribe Village.
they are really cool. one of the elders was a stooped old lady, most of the time with a huge bananna leaf doobie hanging out of her mouth
Prob hang around chaing mai till Saturday
Managed to get a Window Sleeper from BKK (the last seat) 10mins before the train departed!
Staying at a cool Guesthouse (Libra) and heading on their 3 day trek today.
heading back to BKK today, do the rest of my teeth & then catch a train to chaing mai. unless I read of something cool on the bus.
words kinda dont describe what you think when you look at the huge cuttings they made for hellfire pass using small picks, manual labor and dynamite.
And the 100,000 people who died making the railway.
ed: missed the anzac day ceremony as was in the hills around chaing mai trekking. So it was good to have checked these out
Well,
Im half done, not quite the same as having only half a set of breast implants.
but half my mouth is done, and the other half is done on saturday.. and each filling is only $24AU each!
loving it!
