Well maybe summer isnt quite in Sydney yet.
The weekend consisted of 9 knot easterlys. Managed a total of about 20mins riding of about 8 hours spent at the beach
got to watch a beach volleyball comp tho, which was cool.
Very small world tho, a chick came over to talk about kiting. Turned out she was a kiwi. She was watching her mate in the volleyball comp who I went to school with!
I have begun selling my stuff.
Laptop = presold
Scooter = Guy keen, but it needs a new steering column If i can source that!
Van= cant bring myself to sell it yet
Last weekend:
My kite parts didnt arrive before the weekend, making me behave like a PMS wench during the day when there was wind.
Had a haloween party for the Candidians. Was a very good night, rocking on till 6am. And up at 8am! URGH!

Looks to be a very good article on many aspects of sleep:
Intro
The fundamental truths of sleep are not difficult to master: one sleeps when one is tired — mostly at night—and awakens the next day usually feeling rested and refreshed.
So why put together an Insight on a topic that seems so straightforward?
Although it is often true in biology that things are more complex than they seem at first glance, it is especially accurate for sleep. This became apparent about 50 years ago with the discovery of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. This is a sleep state marked by intense brain activity, rapid bursts of eye movement and vivid dreaming. The high level of brain activity during REM sleep created a serious challenge to the prevailing dogma — that we sleep simply to provide rest — and raised a host of largely unanswered questions about the function of sleep.
Intuition also fails us when considering other aspects of sleep — namely that ‘drifting off to sleep’ is a slow process and that sleep and wake are completely separate states. On the contrary, the act of switching from being awake to sleeping can be extremely rapid, an observation that carries significant public health implications. And patients with various sleep disorders can exist in curious states that combine aspects of both sleep and wakefulness, indicating that the two are not always mutually exclusive.
That so many big questions in sleep research remain unanswered makes it a fascinating field to follow. This Insight highlights much of that excitement with a diverse collection of articles.
Im Not Crazy!
interesting quote from article:
The disorders of arousal are the most impressive and most common of the NREM sleep parasomnias. These share common features. They tend to arise from slow-wave sleep (stages 3 and 4 of NREM sleep) and therefore usually occur during the first third of the sleep cycle (and rarely during naps). They are common in childhood, usually decreasing in frequency with increasing age43, 44.
Disorders of arousal may be triggered by febrile illness, alcohol, previous sleep deprivation, physical activity, emotional stress or medications. Such precipitants should be thought of as triggering events in susceptible individuals and not the cause. Persistence of these behaviours beyond childhood or their development in adulthood has erroneously been taken as an indication of underlying psychopathology. Careful clinical evaluations of patients with disorders of arousal have dispelled the myth that these conditions are the manifestation of significant underlying psychiatric or psychological problems45, 46, 47.
Disorders of arousal occur on a broad spectrum ranging from confusional arousals, through somnambulism (sleep walking) to sleep terrors. Some take the form of ‘specialized’ behaviours such as sleep-related eating and sleep-related sexual activity

Well just now I have oficially handed my notice in to work that I am leaving.
Woot! Damn that feels good!
14 months of travelling sounds very good to me
A kitesurfer gets lofted for 37 seconds.. Very lucky to come out of this with just bruises.
oh, and some funky snow kiting clips! the first one is amazing.
I had 5 hours out kiting at brighton today. the wind was north east, so I decided to do a run to Kurnell. I guess around 10kms 1 way. got back to brighton le sands and decided to do it again.
The second time on the way back, about 2 kms from the beach my chicken loop snapped/exploded (this holds the front two lines of the kite to my harness). This resulted in the kite being fully powered up, and all tension on my arms without any warning, so it basically ripped the bar from my hands.
so I’m dead in the water knowing something of my gear has failed and now I have to self rescue. I retrieve my bar & wind up my lines. A jetskier comes out and checks Im Ok, he takes my board back to shore.
The coast guard boat also cruised past, didnt offer help, just checking I was breathing. Boat rescues are a biartch anyway..
So I got the kite acting as a sail and eventually made it to the beach. What an adventure. only 1 or 2 of the kiters saw it happen. but said it was pretty impressive.
Really should get around to putting my contact details on my board, and fixing my leash
Now this is a very cool, and thus very $$ idea.

cred for his idea, 400~k USD in approx 2 months. well worthy!
I arrived in Auckland 00:20 Saturday morning. picked up my hire car and was on the motorway at 1am.
Arrived at Ohakune 5am. The next lesson being that its pretty much impossible to sleep comfortably in a hatchback!
A full day boarding, the afternoon being spent out west on turoa hitting a kicker with Jamos Dave & Mike.
Sunday we had a few runs and 11:30 we started the hike for the summit. 475m vertical & 1:15 later we sat atop the volcano summit. (highest point in the North Island)
We waited around in the hope of the clouds lifting/dropping so we could see the crater lake etc. but after an hour and a half called it quits and headed down the front face, then over and down the glacier enjoying fresh lines and great conditions.
Trail Map
Low and behold when we got back to the lifts the mountain was completely clear. :{
We then headed out west to the lahar chute. Mike hit the waterfall again, and was lucky to make the hole at the bottom by about a foot!
standing above the waterfall, one of the Jeremys took his board off and proceeded to loose grip and watch it plummet into said waterfall hole. Mike ended venturing into the waterfall to retrieve.
See pics, as its pretty self explanatory
what an adventure.
