Yay – Kitesurfing Time

Moby | 13/1/2005

Yesterday I got out on Palm Beach (Gold Coast) in the surf. Was just body dragging as I haven’t been out in waves yet. Had a great time, and put on a good show of getting vary airborne and dropped into the surf many times over.

Came out with a stupid large grin. 😀

Today had an afternoon session on the Broadwater. Got my switch riding, my turns sorted and almost got my upwind ability 🙂

Hopefully tomorrow resolve that issue, then I can start Jumps! GRIN

Have a POTD for yesterday – but none today 🙁

Pancakes in Paradise

Moby | 11/1/2005

POTD. $7.50 all you can eat american style pancakes with whipped butter and maple syrup.

The current record is 21 pancakes.

Some of the T & C’s:
Time Limit 1 Hour
You may not go to the toilet
you may be billed for cleaning if you hide the pancakes in the furniture.

And the prize?
a $50 voucher to come and eat there again!

I can speak from experience that there would be no desire to eat there again for a very long time. If not ever. My appetite for pancakes I dont think will recover from yesterday for at least a few months.

Wind – Grr

Moby | 10/1/2005

Well still no kiting has been done, Cyclone Kerry has caused heavy wind warnings to be in place, and looks to be for the remainder of the week.

I talked to a kiter today on main beach in Surfers. He was a Pom, and didn’t know about it. I was hoping he was a local and I could hit him for all the locals spots.

Will do the POTD’s tomorrow. Have some classy shots.

Hermit has a BF!

Moby | 3/1/2005

well it appears that the Hermit has had a BF for ages, maybe even the whole time shes lived here.

We just didnt know about it. That strikes me as odd.
He lives in NY tho, so its not like he could have stayed over lots.

Still funny that you can live with someone that long and they dont tell you anything…

India Tsunami

Moby | 26/12/2004

Thoughts go out to all those affected, and hoping Shane was not in its path.

Its another reminder that we are but single grains of sand on a very large beach. Carpe Diem

Adrenalin & Near Death Experiences

Moby | 9/12/2004

Went out kitesurfing today.

Wind was ~13knots when I went out. had a couple of good runs, then the wind picked up and was gusting up to ~25knots. very bad to be on a 17m kite. I was walking back up the beach, the lines completely reefed in.

A gust came through and lifted me up and directly towards a guy with his surfcasting line out.
He managed to get it down just in time for me to jump him, I managed to land just before the road and trees!

Luckily we decided it was time to go at this stage, as we got back to the van and they were towing every vehicle (clearway). Very lucky and know must learn that I have to actually read what the sign says, not just park there because others are.

Could have been very bad, as Allister had to be @ the airport in 1/2 an hour, and had left his passport in the van!

I must have good karma.
