Newcastle!

Moby | 19/5/2005

Well next week I’m off to the great metropolis that is Newcastle.

I wonder if they have night time wine tasting tours?

Whos got the low down on what to do and where to go?

I could ask the hermit, however I don’t think we have the same interests.

Was up the coast when they went on sale and alas missed out.

Generation Y = Work to Live

Moby | 18/5/2005

Apparently I’m not alone:

Prepare for generation Y or suffer staff shortages

Organizations keen to retain IT staff better start preparing for Generation Y.

The next generation of workers are more interested in achieving a work/life balance, an environment for which the IT industry isn’t exactly famous.

Andrew Cross, NSW sales and delivery manager for ICT specialist recruiter Diversiti, said retaining Gen-Y employees challenge companies.

Defined as those born between 1980 and 1995, these new workers are less motivated by money than previous generations because their focus is on personal fulfillment.

“They work to live, and they expect to go straight into a role with a lot of responsibility, instead of expecting to first pay their dues and prove their loyalty,” Cross said.

Well during the flight over the states, I decided its as flat as a pancake! I even saw some crop circles.

Picked up the car. pulled out of the car lot onto the wrong side of the road. haha. been pretty good since tho.
GPS navigation took a while to get used to, got a few – please wait why downloading new route :)

Stayed at the Hyatt. Really shmick.

Went out to explore the nightlife, checked out a local irish pub, then aria (hip hop & latin club). lotsa bling heheh was grooving.

Did the old town trolley bus tour today, to get the speedie view of Boston. Quite a groovy city. Just fricken cold!

Welcome to the USA

Moby | 8/5/2005

Please remove your shoes, place your identifying fingers and cheesy grin (but no teeth) in our database and have a lovely day.

Everyone talks funny! Definately prefer the canadian accent.

Business class is good. Was asleep before takeoff, and actually thought we were still on the ground when I woke up. Noise cancelling headphones are beautiful – I now understand.

I’m in San Francisco awaiting my Boston connection. The red carpet club aint that exciting. Not even free internet.
