Night Clubs in Buenos Aires

Moby | 20/3/2007

They definately know how to party here in BA.

On Wednesday we visited Museum Night Club. 4 levels (3 balconys overlooking the dancefloor). going through the very humble entrance as your round the bend you are shown the grand plan, and we all WOW! One of the coolest, sexiest clubs I have ever been to.

Friday saw us at Sunset Disco. This is a multiroom, huge nightclub. Including but not limited to: outdoor 8foot deep foam party, strippers, trance room, rnb, hip hop. Finished up at 9am. Its a BA instutition.

Buenos Aires!

Moby | 11/3/2007

flew in this morning to the fine city of Buenos Aires. Here till the 20th. So plenty of time to soak up the sights and party party just a little bit more.

In the last week it seems half of everyone I talk to is Irish, and everyone is headed here for the Paddys day party on Saturday. So it should be cooool 🙂

Sao Paulo

Moby | 3/3/2007

More party party …  :(  haha

Spent about 3 hours wandering the city trying to find the right bus to Marcelos house. Even asking police boxs for directions. Everyone sending me in different directions. Including when I asked the sme police box again. Total opposite direction!

Last night we were at the USP (University of Sao Paulo) Orientation parties. Psych had free beer and bbq. Vet had metal, Othorodontics were all studying, and Bio had the best.  The theme was cross dressing so the antics were out there.

Tonight is a Trance party on a Golf Course somewhere with Juilana and posse.  Maybe Ill catch up on sleep when I get back to Aussie.

Arraial d’ Ajuda

Moby | 1/3/2007

just across the river from Porto Seguro I have been staying in a little town called Isrealli d’ Ajuda.

As a gringo walking in the streets, if another gringo wants to talk to you, Hebrew will be the first choice 🙂

And theres a resturant that offers all you can eat lunch/dinner for $4 to hebrew speaking people. but the rest of us have to pay $7 per kilo. Happily tho I have been smuggled into the resturant by a few isreallis that didnt know where it was 🙂

Have been attempting to detox post carnaval.  hmmmm.

Fly to Sao Paulo 4.30am tomorrow. yay for cheapish flights..  I hate 20hr bus rides!

In other grand news, Copa (my airline from BA to Panama) cant find my ticket in its system.  Neither can malaysian airlines! (the company who issued the RTW ticket).Off to the offices in Rio next week.

And lets not bring up Flight Centre. NEVER EVER AGAIN!

Morro de Sao Paulo

Moby | 21/2/2007

Well carnaval has finished. Fat Boy Slim played last night and it was absolutely banging!

Caught the 5am ferry to Morro de Sao Paulo, a bit harsh when drunk and the boats bouncing around, lots of people being sick… But thats ok, since this is where the post carnaval party continued for another 5 days!!

Now its time for a detox!

Carnaval

Moby |

WOW!

A week nocturnal crazyness. everything kicks off properly each day around 2pm. But even before that theres stuff happening everyday. Sleep was usually 8am-12 noon. and maybe a power nap around 7 :)

The grand finale was Fat Boy Slim playing on the last night. He mixed in all good sorts of tunes and the bloco was huge.

We spent the whole week as pipoca (popcorn). This is what you are called if youre outside the ropes of the bloco with everyone their dog.

Any semblance of a normal diet is discarded, with lots of street food being consumed at random hours of the day.

Malaria Free!

Moby | 14/2/2007

Celebrations. I’ve made it to 1+ month free of Malaria.

Which now makes me Malaria Free according to the CDC…
No cover for Malaria on my travel insurance for the next year tho.. so will have to be extra careful.

Im quite glad i didnt read too much about what happens in your body when you have it.. Some of the research Ive come across:

Falciparum malaria: The most dangerous type of malaria. Red blood cells infected with the parasite tend to sludge and form microinfarctions (small areas of dead tissue due to lack of oxygen) in capillaries in the brain, liver, adrenal gland, intestinal tract, kidneys, lungs, and other organs. Treatment is in a hospital setting, using intravenous medications.

Looks like I would have been classifed as having Severe Malaria. As I had Thrombocytopenia. on the 15th December my platelet count was 24,000

In an adult, a normal count is about 150,000 to 450,000 platelets per microliter (x 10–6/Liter) of blood.

  • Abnormalities in blood coagulation and thrombocytopenia (decrease in blood platelets) If platelet levels fall below 20,000 per microliter, spontaneous bleeding may occur and is considered a life-threatening risk.
  • URGH!
