McLeod Ganj

Moby | 7/6/2006

Caught the local bus up to McLeod Ganj today. Its where the Dali Lama hangs out.

Great to be up in the mountains again, and its a lot cooler which is tops. Hopefully there are some good day hikes.

India v Pakistan Border Ceremony

Moby |

Checked this out last nite. Cooked our asses on the concrete while waiting for it to begin.

All up, its kinda stupid, and thats the whole point. a lot of leg flinging foot stomping and silly hats and almost a dance off.

Good job all round!

Amritsar & the Golden Temple

Moby |

Stayed in the free accommodation for foreign pilgrims/hippies at the Golden Temple and had a couple of great days hanging out. Sikhism is quite different. No iconography, and the temples are open to all religions.

The place at night is amazing, and there are pilgrims sleeping everywhere!

Delhi – its not that crazy

Moby | 2/6/2006

Well maybe it is. And its quite funny how many ‘official tourist offices’ there are. All the touts take the I want to be your friend, and it wont cost you any money, but how about visiting this emporium.

I think every tourist shop is called an emporium, well or the official Tourist information office. which happens to be down some back alleys where they walk your around a few corners to ensure you didnt realise it wasnt on a main st?

The hotels in Delhi are a tad scungy, and today wasn’t too hot. but other days are around the mid 40’s ive heard.

Not sure what my plans are from here. all the locals keep saying Rajastan. which is what I will probably do.

Mui Ne

Moby | 31/5/2006

Well Arrived in Mui Ne yesterday ~3pm got to the beach and rigged up on some rental gear. Got around 15 mins of kiting in wind that was dying as the storm couds came over. Still was nice to get out on the water.

Today the wind picked up ~1pm got out on a 16.5m and maybe 10 or 15 mins into the session the storm clouds pushed over the beach and turned the wind very light & offshore when I was about 1km offshore. Ended up well down the beach, but at least i got back 🙂

So with the winds not delivering I skipped town to Ho Chi Minh. Doing the Chu Chi tunnels and war museum tomorrow.

Nah Trang

Moby | 28/5/2006

Well no kite shops here. There was one local with a kite he was renting but didnt have one big enough for me! ahh the frustration. However am headed for Mui Nei tomorrow and thats the biggest kiting spot in Vietnam so hopefully get a day or two kiteing there 🙂

Went out on a day cruise, stopping in at 4 islands, swimming and general galavanting.

randomly ran into Cliff & Clair (who I hung out with in Laos) on their last nite in Veitnam. So had a few bevvies at the sailing club with them. Tops!

Wind!

Moby | 26/5/2006

Well yesterday I spent a lot of time at Hoi An beach. The problem being there was a consistent cross shore wind, around 14knots and nowhere to rent kite gear from.

Its the first time in my trip I have felt the Kite addiction.

Good news however, since Im headed to Nah Trang tonight and I hear that theres a kiteshop that rents gear there!

Have dropped the mekong from my schedule as reports arent that positive about it, and it makes my trip far more manageable.
